A prescribed burn at Pilot Mountain spotted over on November 8, 2012. Overnight and through the next day the fire spread uncontrolled into a major wildfire while bulldozers and hand crews struggled in steep mountain terrain to put in containment lines. The fire was declared contained 8 days after ignition. During the night of November 9 the flames climbed the big pinnacle, witnessed by only a few people. Still photographs are available but this is the only known video.
