Gorges State Park
Lower Bearwallow Falls
There are several things to note about Lower Bearwallow Falls. First, this falls is different than Upper Bearwallow Falls. Second, there is no trail that leads to Lower Bearwallow Falls. To get to and find this waterfall, above level endurance is needed (Over 8 miles of hiking, some over very steep terrain) in addition to navigation skills. There is no marked trail to this falls. Thirdly, as with many waterfalls in this region, Lower Bearwallow Falls has many rare and endangered plant species in and around the falls area that are found few if no other places. Excess traffic can threaten and damage these species. While this waterfall is documented on many pieces of literature, it is recommended that the visitors of Gorges State Park enjoy the other, both substantial and equally beautiful waterfalls located within the park.
